Why do we ask for model & serial numbers when looking up parts?
Even if two machines look the same, what’s inside can vary...especially across production runs or different versions of the same model.
For example, we stock hundreds of springs, but only one is the right fit for replacement on your machine. A “close enough” or "universal" part may work temporarily but can lead to damage, poor performance, or early failure. None of us want that.
Manufacturers often change specs mid-model, so we commonly ask for your
machine model and serial number, and sometimes the engine or other
component numbers, to make sure we get it right the first time.
Depending on the situation, there may be a different set of numbers for the:
- Machine
- Engine
- Transmission(s)
- Deck (common on older machines)
- Accessories (a bagger, plow, cart, attachment, etc.)
Pro tip: Ask us to save your equipment info in our system before you need to use it, or grab our free information cards to keep your model numbers handy! *When you purchase a machine from Mowers And More, we record most of this information in our system for you already.
